I shouldn't be suprised...

But I was anyway. Can you believe she cought this guy with her own 2 hands? Can you believe he didn't try to jump away from her? Can you believe she held him on his back like a baby and he just hung out there? Can you believe she put him on the ground and he sat there waiting for her to pick him up again???

Me neither...but it happened right before my own 2 eyes. Watch the videos and you will see it happen before your own 2 eyes too. ;-) (it's only letting me upload one video...my next post will be the 2nd video)

Co-Sleeping

Ok, tonight we are trying something new... and I wanted to write about it while my thoughts and memories are fresh.
Eden has been having a difficult time going to bed at night lately, and once we finally get her to sleep she comes into our room and climbs into bed with us at all hours of the night. We figure this is probably because Tex sleeps in our room with us. Just in order to make midnight feedings more convenient for me.

But sleeping in a full size bed with 4 bodies in it is becoming a little more inconvenient. Plus I wake up often whenever I hear Tex make a little grumble. My ears are just too sentitive to his noises, and I still feed him twice at night. Plus the 4 times Eden comes in our room. Meaning I wake up 6 times a night.

So, tonight we are trying them out in the same room together. Eden told me she was going to be a good big sister and set a good example for brother and teach him how to stay in his own bed.

So far she has been doing really well and hasn't come out once.

When I first left the room after tucking them in, it was silent and I thought, "Wow, that was easy." I had put Tex into his crib already asleep and Eden had just been tucked in.

But a few moments later I heard a loud giggle that sounded like Tex, and then Eden giggled back. And then they made noises back and forth at one another for a few moments and started laughing....it was soooo cute to hear them playing together.

Jonathon peeked in the room to make sure Eden hadn't crawled in Tex's crib... and there she was in her own little bed making noises to get Tex to laugh.

But after a few moments Tex's giggles started taking a turn to cries, so I went in and nursed him and laid him back in his crib.

As soon as I left his sight though, he began to cry. I took him out of the room so Eden would still be able to fall asleep, but then she started to cry because she wanted brother.

So, I decided that if he is going to get used to sleeping in his big new crib in Eden's room he's going to have to cry it out a little one night, and I put him back in his crib.

He's quit crying, and his cries have turned to moans. Eden is in the room asking, "Brother? What's the matter? What's da matter broder?"

So far it's not working...and Eden has started playing with something while waiting for Tex to cry it out.

I think I'll go in now to take him out and try it again another night. ;-)

*******a few moments later*********
So, I went in the room. I explained to Eden that Tex is scared to sleep in another room and that Mommy has to help him fall asleep and if she waits in her bed I'll bring him back in. She said, "okay" and I took Tex out. I laid him on my own bed in my room. Instantly he yawned, rolled over, and his eyes got droopy droopy...and he fell asleep. Literally in 30 seconds.

So I waited a few moments, picked him up and put him back in the crib. He woke up instantly in a panick and began crying. I picked him up, shooshed him back to sleep and remembered he likes to sleep on his tummy. So, I laid him back in the crib on his tummy...and not a peep.

I left the room, Eden fell asleep, Tex stayed asleep...and I didn't hear a peep till 6:30 this morning. (9:30-6:30= 9 hours of break time for Mommy....and boy did I need it!)

Oh...and they didn't sleep in the bed. Here is Tex in his crip this morning with his good friend Eeyore.

Looking for a new place...

Not us. I don't think we will be going anywhere for a while. But a friend of mine has suddenly found out that her landlord doesn't wish to have tenants anymore once her contract expires...at the end of the month (tomorrow). He is being kind enough to give them till the end of the week...what a sweetie.

So, since he didn't give her much notice they are scrambling to find a roof for their heads and the heads of their 2 babies.

If you know of anyone who knows of anyone who knows someone that has an available rental in Hauula Laie Kahuku somewhere in the $1000-1300 range, please leave a comment and lets help this family out!

Thanks guys.

Bad daughter-in-law alert!

I am referring to myself for not posting this sooner... But anyway, here is a little story for your entertainment.
The grandma on the far right, once had a son. He is pictured on the left. He married the beauty to his right and they had these 5 children pictured below

See the boy in the photo making a face? Well, the Dad above told that little boy, "Son, when you are 23 you should ask Breanna's piano teacher out."

And the little boy replied, "But Dad...who is Breanna?" And his father answered, "She is your sister. You don't know her yet because she hasn't been born. But, you will meet her soon."

A few years later, Breanna was born. And the boy waited and waited till he was 23, and he did what his Father had suggested he do.

And had that little boy not listened to his wise father's council...he may not be married to me this day. ;-) The end

Happy (late) Birthday Dad!!! We hope it was great. And thanks for all your wise council. Our lives are much better because of it. We love you!P.S.

Some nights

I tuck the kids in, read books, sing songs, say prayer, say good night, turn out the lights...and walk out of the room and all is peaceful in the house.
Except for last night. Cause last night, it was a little less peaceful and a little more this...

Attack of the finger-nail polish

So, now that i let her try it once on her own...Eden is addicted to finger-nail polish. And I don't mind. Last night she played with it while I prepared dinner, this morning she played with it while I sent out a recipe...but when I checked on her this morning I found...

So, now the nail polish bottle is empty. Am I worried? ....naaah. ;-) It was only $1.50 anyway... right? And finger-nail polish remover...that works on cement...right?

Another makeover

She sure loves balloons

$1.50 -- What's it worth anyway?

So, I have been trying to be a little more like a few of my friends who LET THEIR KIDS GET MESSY! Cause kids are kids and from time to time that's what they should do. Right?? I am a mess-a-phobic. I guess it has something to do with the fact that my house gets messy enough on it's own without any extra assistance. Another part of me tells me it's too expensive to let her waste my $1.50 bottle of nail polish that I never use. Or to use the 5000 sticker book that i spent $2 on. But I mean really $1.50? How many times have I wasted that on a snack at McDonalds drive thru? Really, why buy this stuff if I am afraid to let her use it? Anyway....sorry. Just giving myself a little stern talking to.

Well, the other morning I felt like it was time to let Eden try something new on her very own...and she had a great time doing it...and so did I.

And I think we only used 1/4 of the bottle. ;-) I just wish I would have realized sooner not to leave her in a cute purple dress before attempting this. But...didn't the complimentary colors sure turn out great in the photos? And just look at that smile.... I'd pay $20 to see this girl smile the way she did that morning....If I could afford it, I'd probably pay anything.

Dear Tex,

You have 2 teeth already, and you know how to crawl sideways on your knees. I know I told you before son...but stop growing so fast. I wasn't kidding. ;-) Ok fine, you are so cute I"ll just let you do whatever you want for a while. How could i be upset at a face like this and such cute chubby little legs??

I forgot about this

The other day I made Tex a mobile. He didn't have many toys at the time since he was just starting to get into playing, so one morning Eden and I got creative. She had a lot of fun helping me create it. At first I hung it from the cieling fan. Eden swung it (and tried to swing on it) for Tex and he just laughed and laughed. He always thinks she is HILLARIOUS. It was a fun morning.
Later I hung it from a string I tied across the top of his play pen. We like to keep things simple around here. ;-)

If you would like your own...

There are several things that people list these awesome toy organizers under. I had to play with a few options.

And I warn you, it took me several weeks to get my hands on one. I called on probably 6 and everyone kept telling me they were already sold...even if they had only been listed hours before.

You can buy them new for $50-$70. But here are the search words I used on craigslist.

1. toy bin or toy bins
2. bin organizer
3. bin shelves
4. bucket shelves
5. bucket organizer

I think those are all the ones I tried...best of luck!! ;-)

Dear anyone who is trying to call me or text

My phone doesn't seem to want to charge...so I appologize if I don't answer. It's not you... it's me. ;-)

organization supreme-o!!

Thank you who-ever invented this...
Thank you Mom for having one of these in your toy room so I knew they existed...
Thank you lady on Craigslist for selling yours for $35...
Thank you hubby for buying it for me...
This room is happy and this mommy has less messes to pick up because of you.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Good news and bad news

First the bad news....

So, yesterday I was feverishly sewing away...I was inspired...the kids were being great! I sewed Eden a new pair of pj's out of an old tye died t shirt and a princess dress from an old tank top and bed skirt...next on the list was baby gifts.... when all of a sudden...dun dun dun

Eden dropped something on the floor, I got down on the floor with her to help her clean up her little mess and as I stood up my backside bumped the dinner tray that was holding my dear sewing machine. **Gasp!** Oh no! I picked it up, put back on the little part that popped off. It looked relatively fine. "Oh, I am soooo lucky." I thought.

I sit back down to sew the elastic into the almost finished pajama pants...I was so excited cause it was my first pair of pants I'd ever sewn and they actually turned out cute and they fit her! I turn the wheel on the side of my sewing machine to bring the needle down into the fabric...then it happened. Well, actually nothing happened. The wheel wouldn't turn. I broke it after-all.

I still haven't taken the thing apart to see if something is just dis-lodged or if I broke a gear or something fell off...but for now all sewing projects are on hold...that's the bad news. ;-( sad sad sad.

But the good news is a friend pointed me in the direction of a fun DIY blog and I found this and a few other non-sew projects. For those of you who have ever been in ear-shot around me when mosquitoes are present know that I CAN"T STAND those creatures. And since they live on my back patio Eden is quarantined in the house most the day cause those bugs fly in my house and make me grumpy. But, I am going to make an arsenal of these home-made citronella candles till I get that sewing machine fixed....the end.

If these 2 weren't together...

5 years ago...and some change, this guy asked this girl to marry him. He put that huge fake ring on her finger and she undoubtedly said "YES!"

He then put a smaller fake ring on her finger the next day...and a few weeks later...she finally got the real deal...and an extra proposal in a room filled with white roses and the light from the setting sun was beaming through the windows. ;-) And she again said, "YES!"

A few months later they were marriedAnd it's safe to say it was the happiest and funnest day of their lives....till this day

And they loved their life together, and they loved their little baby girl. And they decided they would love their lives together even more when this day came. And they were right. And just the other night this couple went out to CELEBRATE. Because this life would not be the same if they weren't together. Their 2 babies wouldn't be so happy if these 2 weren't together. Home would not be a heaven on earth if these 2 weren't together. If they weren't together, they wouldn't have as much fun, they wouldn't know so much joy. The last 5 years wouldn't have been so great and it's hard to imagine what life would be...if these 2 weren't together.
