Last Sunday Morning

We played hookie from church. It's not something we like to do often, but the kids had been sick so long and we heard that the stomach flu was making it's way around the neighborhood. So, we decided it was best to keep the kids home for one extra day of rest and have church at home.
While we were waiting for Tex to wake up...we had a little fun with the camera. Eden has been into practicing making faces lately. And she has been having fun trying to "scare" people too.

He's a sweetheart

This little guy wakes up pretty happy... most often
And when he sleeps, he likes to snuggle his purple doggie.
Yup, he's a sweetheart. <3

All in a days work

The days around here have been getting a whole lot more fun lately since we haven't been so germy. We've been up to lots of fun new things, and the pictures are piling up on my hard-drive again...where do I begin.

I guess I'll start here. What day was this? I don't remember exactly, Monday or Tuesday. All I remember was it was the perfect beach afternoon, so we headed across the street. Me and my two best little buddies. And I don't think I need to tell you Tex is feeling 100% again. I'm pretty sure the photos will explain that.

But before I begin. Can I just show you where I found Eden before we headed to the beach? I stepped out my front door, and this is what I saw...the girl is never dull. And in her hand is a can of bug spray that she was spraying all over her belly.
Ok, off to the beach!

So, while Tex was in more of a sand mood... Eden was ready to run for the water...
So, Tex and I watched her from the shore (this boy LOVES watching his big sister)

Just about the time that Eden was good and frozen, Tex was ready to head for the water.

So he...

while she...

And not too long after that...

So Eden and I...

And not too long after that they were both peacefully...

Had the sun still been out by this point I would have taken a nap myself. But, since it was breezy and the sun had gone behind the clouds of the approaching storm (and I was now freezing), I did a yoga/push-ups/lunges mini-work out with this beautiful view...

Breathing in the sweetness that is Eden

One of the challenging things about having 2 kids, is making sure you are giving equal time to both kids. Since Tex has been so sick, I think the scale has been a little out of balance and Eden has been the one getting left out. In addition to being left out, she is also 2 and a half, and I have had many many sleepless nights in a row...making me a little less than my "sometimes patient" self. Often I'd go to bed wishing I spent more time with her, thought of more things for us to do and explore...but the other night wasn't one of those.

Last Saturday, Jonathon had a reunion in town to attend. I ran to the store to buy a few ingredients for pumpkin cookies before he left, and once we got Tex to bed at 6:30....the evening was mine and Eden's alone. No interruptions, no schedules to keep, no distractions. Just me, and the sweetness that is Eden. We baked, we made messes, we stayed up 2 hours past bed time...and I could care less. For me, this time we spent together was the breath of fresh air that I had been missing for days. The more time we spent together, the more I realized how much I had missed her. There was time to chat with my little chatter-box, time to eat sweets together and pick at the bag of chocolate chips, time to enjoy one another's company. It was a night I hope to never forget.
Before we got started, I wanted to make sure Eden had eaten her dinner all gone. We made spaghetti, but before she finished her food, the baking bug had already hit her.

I decided that was good enough for me, so we got the ingredients out and got to work. (I didn't feel like deciding which photo was cuter...so you can look at them all. Feel free to vote if you like) ;-)

Mix it all up
and put it in the oven and watch and wait wait wait
And show your pink puppy. It was so fun to watch her as she warned her puppy ever so lovingly not to touch the oven because it is "very hot".

And since you will be waiting so long, you may as well make yourself comfy.

After a few minutes of watching our treats cook, we decided to play on the computer for a bit. Eden loves to make pictures with the paint program. Tonight she said she wanted to make pancakes. This is what we came up with. Notice her suggestion of Mickey Mouse pancakes? I've never made her those...where did she come up with that?

Once the cookies were done and had cooled off a bit, Eden thought they were still a little too warm to eat, so she held it in front of the fan...just like so.

Perfect!

The floor may have gotten a little messy...but I didn't mind. Eden helped me clean up when we were done anyway.

I said, "Okay Eden. We are all done. Time to clean up. Can you help me?"
"Yup!" She replied. "Over here mom. There is some by my foot!" ;-)

I guess she picked that up from me when I am helping her clean up her messes. "Ooops Eden, looks like you missed a spot over here by my foot."

So, we cleaned our whole mess with me wiping it up and her pointing out the spots with her foot. We pretty much had a ball. I hope there are many more nights in store like this for me and my Eedie Bee.
