You probably already know...

But I thought I'd post it on here anyway. I don't think it's anything to get too hyped up over, but I checked mine.

Tylenol recall

Just look at the lot number on the side of your children's or infants tylenol. Google the # and see if it comes up.

Mine is safe...but you may wanna check yours.

Dear Grandma Ruth

My sweet Grandma, who passed away several years ago, 95th birthday just rolled around a few days ago. And I thought she might be happy to know that I still remember special times with her.

I'm glad I was able to spend time with my grandparents growing up. We only lived near them for a short part of my childhood. We moved away from them when I was 6. But I remember taking walks with Grandma everywhere. And I remember Grandma always always singing.

One of my favorite songs Grandma would sing was "Peas Porridge Hot". I thought it seemed like such a silly song. Who in the world would want to eat 9 day old soup, especially when it was cold?

I've been singing this song to Eden now and then for the past few days, and thinking about you Grandma, and remembering our long walks.

Tonight, Eden was having a hard time falling asleep. I went in her room to tuck her back in, and I said, "I'll sing you one more song. You want your nigh-night song?" And she said, "No Mamma. I wanna sing the pea song".

And so we did, and after that and a few hugs and kisses, and one more verse of the night-night song...she fell fast asleep.
Thanks for spending so much time with me Grandma. I know you loved me, and that you still do.

A little dinner entertainment

Tonight while we were eating dinner, Tex was crawling around the living room entertaining us all. He noticed a crawl space in the bottom of the book-case. Usually the book case is full of back-packs and diaper bags on the bottom shelf. But tonight, it was empty. And for 10 minutes Tex was DETERMINED to crawl through it. I don't remember Eden ever searching for holes to crawl through. He didn't quite make it through. I think I distracted him too much when I showed up with the camera. But I bet he'll make it today. ;-)

I can't believe he is crawling all around my house now. Picking up whatever his sweet little fingers can grab (and it's usually paper). I love listening to his squeals of delight when he finds something he just thinks is awesome. He's becoming a more graceful faller. He used to wack his head pretty good when ever he'd topple over. But he's learning how to tuck in order to avoid head injuries. ;-)
AndHis big sister is soooo good about sweetly taking away "no-no's" from him. She is certainly my little helper. I'm the luckiest mamma, and I know it.

Someone(s) we forgot to mention...

I guessed it slipped my blogger memory one day....I told facebook. But i forgot to tell you.

We have a new member in our house. Meet Zoe. (Zo-wee)

Though we got her down from time to time each day to play with her, Zoe didn't like being all alone. I mean really...who would like to run around a cage all day long all by your lonesome. It would get, well...lonely right?
Thus... meet Bella!

They are pretty good friends. It's cute to watch them run around together, snuggle, fight.
Eden likes to call her Cinder-bella. ;-) As you can tell from the photos, she doesn't really care too much for animals.

We done had a great weekend...

Cause we went camping... And somehow though I was very busy having TONS and TONS of fun I found the time to take over 230 photos. ;-) Here is a taste.

Feeding the ducks

Enjoying the scenery
Playing hide and seek in the dark with Daddy and a flash light
Sleeping in a tent
Eating lots and lots and lots

And enjoyed great times with great friends

Thanks so so much to everyone who took time to plan this out and for sharing all your treats and tents and pink luggage. We had so much fun!

Corrections

Okay, I appologize for the corrections. I should have waited to post this...but I tried out this recipe this morning and here are the adjustments.

1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 C raisins
1 c. applesauce
2/3 C milk (or water if you used powder milk)

And i probably forgot to mention to grease your muffin tins...be sure to do that.

And I bet it would be good to make with cranberries or other dried fruit and nuts. This is your basic breakfast bar base. Add whatever sounds good to you. ;-)

Delicious Breakfast Bars

The other day, Eden wanted to bake something. So we created a recipe and it actually turned out decent. I made a few adjustments last night, and they turned out even better.
They have a heavy texture. Kind of like a pumpkin cookie. I think they are perfect as a breakfast bar for your husband to grab on his way out the door. Or for a healthy snack to keep in the car on days you or he has to drive around town.
INGREDIENTS:
2 C Oats
1/3 C Whole Wheat flour
1/8 C Powder milk
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp allspice
1 C raisins
1 carrot (shredded) a zucchini would probably be tasty too
1-2 T Brown sugar (depending on how sweet you want them. I tried no sugar and they are a little bland)
1 egg
2/3 C water / milk
1 C Apple sauce
(You could probably substitute 2/3 cup skim milk for the powder and water. I just didn't have any milk on hand yesterday)
Pre-heat oven to 350. Mix the dry ingredients together. Add the egg, apple sauce. Mix together and then add water/milk and stir some more. (your looking for a batter somewhere between cookie dough and pancake batter.)
Spoon mixture into greased muffin tins. You can fill it up 4/5ths of the way full, because these don't rise very much.
Bake for 20 minutes. Take 'em out. You might need to run a fork or knife around the sides incase it stuck a little.

A tisket A Tasket

2 kids in a basketToday was a good day. A few Costco/town trips ago I called Jonathon on the phone and said, "Sweety...Remind me to never ever ever ever never ever never ever ever never...EVER do this again!"

Well, today wasn't so bad. The previous trip mentioned above probably had something to do with the fact that I tried a Super Shopping trip including Wal-Mart, Savers, and Costco...W A Y over doing it.

Today was a short bus ride to Daddy's work to pick up the car, and a little drive to Costco.
(Eden is curled up in a ball on the seat next to me...she is hiding under the blanket)

Eden was great, and they had AMAZING samples today. She loved the chips, and cookies, hamburgers, delicious scones....mmm. I'm excited for the weekend let's just say.
Anyway, I just had to comment on how great and cute my little 2 year old is with her little brother. Her patience at times AMAZES me. He has recently turned into quite the little grabber. And today as Eden tried to eat her little samples, Tex kept trying to eat them to. She'd calmly say, "No No Tex" and turn to the side. When she wasn't eating anything, Tex would lean against her as though he was hugging her. Eden would put her arm around him and say, "Look Mamma. I make him happy."

Towards the end of our 90 minute Costco expedition, Eden was starting to lose patience. So I taught her this expression. "Tex, give me a break. I need a break please." And whenever she'd say that I would hold Tex's crazy little arms down, and they would both giggle....aaaaaahh. Being a mommy is the greatest thing in the world.

It was one of the sweetest most fun wonderful moments of my mommy-hood.
